We train many student athletes here at Driven. In addition to coaching speed, strength and performance, injury prevention is also one of our goals. Outlined below are some of the most common injuries we see, especially among our field sport athletes.
Upper Leg Sprains and Strains
Groin
- Lack of strength and flexibility compared to the larger quadriceps and hamstrings.
Hamstring
- Lack of strength compared to its quadricep counterpart. The hamstring should be at least 80% as strong as the quadricep.

Ankle & Foot Sprains
Ankle
- Lack of flexibility particularly in dorsiflexion.
Foot
- Lack of strength in flexor and extensor muscles from over restricting cleats and shoes. Read my article on proper shoes here.
ACL Injuries
Glute
- Lack of glute strength increases knee valgus.
Hamstring
- Lack of hamstring strength. Should be at least 80% as strong.
Lack of conditioning
- Change of direction and running mechanics falter as fatigue sets in.
