Healthier for the Holidays Wrap-Up

Everyone wants to start the new year off on a good note, but for a select group of individuals, they decided to get a jump start on their New Year’s resolutions. The holiday season can be a time of over indulgence for many people.

Our group of nutrition clients in the program showed success in many aspects of nutrition including:

  • Getting enough sleep
  • Expanding their knowledge surrounding nutrition
  • Being more mindful of their activity (steps) in daily life
  • Weight Loss
  • Learning how to control for calories even while enjoying the holidays and eating out
  • Learning how alcohol and different calorie counts can affect the scale weight

Many people think of health as weight loss and working out, but to us there is so much more that goes into it.

The scale can be a good tool for monitoring progress and the gym can be a great tool to help us work towards our goals, but paying attention to how clothes fit, number of notches on a belt, need for caffeine consumption, and learning how to eat more mindfully are big takeaways that cannot be overlooked in this process.

Nutrition can be difficult work and requires discipline, accountability (recording) and a long term mindset.  Motivation fades and that is when discipline must take over to continue moving towards our goals.  Great work to all who joined in to learn the process.
